PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to participate in the task of clarifying all issues relevant to initiating, performing and closing out a consulting engagement successfully

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Assisting in assessing the need a client has for the intervention of a consultant
  • Recording the criteria that will determine the success of any proposed consulting engagement
  • Assisting in developing a measuring instrument with which to assess the output or end result of the proposed consulting engagement
  • Ascertaining and documenting clearly the roles of client, consultant and consumers (the end users of the changes introduced during the consulting engagement)

    Questions are prepared, in collaboration with senior consultants, for interviews with client in the required format 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A set of probes and questions are prepared in the required format for administration to the client

    Prepared questions are asked according to organisational requirements 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Information is gathered, and data is recorded within the required time frame for the maintenance of an up-to-date documentation system

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Appropriate information needed to measure the success of the consulting intervention is gathered from reliable sources in accordance with organisational standards and procedures 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The comparative merits and drawbacks of the existing measuring instruments is outlined and presented in a required format 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    A measuring instrument is developed (whether from scratch or by adapting an existing instrument) in collaboration with experienced consultants within required timeframe 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 4 
    Ascertain and document clearly the roles of client, consultant and consumers (the end users of the changes introduced during the consulting engagement).
