PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable learners to apply basic business principles to sell their services, manage payment processing and conduct business in an ethical, professional manner. The ability to deal with customers and their complaints is enhanced, to further ensure sustainability of the business. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
FETC NQF Level 2 literacy and numeracy competencies. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
1. Ethics include fair competition, keeping promises, not partaking in bribery and corruption, confidentiality, respect for human rights, etc.

2. The selling process includes making contact, sustaining contact and closing the sale.

3. Bookkeeping includes: invoices, receipts, account reconciliations etc.
