PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Download a pre-engineered building management system (BMS) system into the computer and commission the system so that it controls and monitors the air-conditioning, refrigeration or ventilation system according to the specifications. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Operate a computer.
  • Monitor an air-conditioning or refrigeration system through the building management system.
  • Sufficient and suitable knowledge in the discipline involved. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Learners are to be assessed on a BMS system with which they are familiar.
    Learners may be assessed on an air-conditioning, refrigeration or a ventilation system.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Any person wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, who may appoint a moderator to be present at the assessment.

    The assessor must have knowledge and experience of air-conditioning or refrigeration. 

    UNIT STANDARD ESSENTIAL EMBEDDED KNOWLEDGE 
    The system of interrogating an air-conditioning or refrigeration system by means of a software program installed on a computer combined with electrical wiring interconnecting a variety of sensors, controllers and controlled elements installed on the plant.
