PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for people who act as a verification and authorisation point in the process of effecting payments on a mortgage loan. People credited with this unit standard are able to verify the correctness and completeness of mortgage loan records, verify the validity of the transaction and to authorise the payment transaction. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
Demonstrated competence in the capturing of mortgage loan application details and the administering of payments of the proceeds of a mortgage loan. 

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
Residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural loans. Payments include full payment on ordinary loans, progress payments on building loans and/or further advances on existing loans granted in the name of individuals and/or non-individuals.

1. Lender is in possession of all documentation required in terms of loan agreement and conditions. 
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
Documentation refers to but is not limited to signed loan agreements, NHBRC enrolment certificate and Waiver of Builder's Lien.

2. All conditions are met as per loan agreement. 
ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
Conditions include but are not limited to property insurance; life assurance; collateral/securities; suretyships and guarantees; registration of bond in name of lender and registration of title deed in name of buyer.

3. Authenticity of payment request is verified according to company specific regulations.

4. Protection of Lender's interest is ensured in accordance with company specific regulations.

Interest refers to payments within guarantees and conditions; payment received by correct party; no claims against lender and timeous follow-up on outstanding payments.

Accreditation process (including moderation):
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Any institution offering learning that will enable achievement of this unit standard or assessing this unit standard must be accredited as a provider with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderation of assessment will be overseen by the relevant ETQA according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.

    Therefore anyone wishing to be assessed against this unit standard may apply to be assessed by any assessment agency, assessor or provider institution which is accredited by the relevant ETQA.

    The learner is able to communicate both verbally and in writing when obtaining and validating mortgage loan agreement information.

    The learner is able to use science and technology effectively when operating electronic systems to locate and extract information, ensuring complete and accurate flow of information. 

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO DEMONSTRATING 
    The learner is able to demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between internal departments, attorneys and clients and the importance of networking to effectively authorise mortgage loan payments.
