    Evaluate key influences on a supply chain environment.

    Key influences include but are not limited to physical distribution and logistics, procurement function, materials management function, strategic supply network. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The principles of physical distribution management and logistics are discussed to reflect their role in and impact on supply distribution networks. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The procurement management function is analysed to reflect its relationship with different aspects influencing supply chain. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Aspects include but are not limited to the concept of procurement, supplier selection, purchasing and valued supplier-partners, features of supplier-partnerships, global sourcing, purchasing policies and procedures.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The materials management function is analysed to reflect its relationship with different aspects influencing supply chain. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Aspects include but are not limited to the concept of materials management, inventory management systems, ROP and lot sizes, EoQ, ERP/MRP systems.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The criteria for the design of a strategic supply network are analysed to reflect their influence on the purchasing environment.

    Strategic supply network include but are not limited to supply network perspective, outsourcing, location decisions, facility layout.

    Analyse and implement operational relationships within the supply chain.

    The importance of working with suppliers are analysed to determine the impact of relationships on purchasing contracts.

    Information on the supply chain is obtained and analysed through the utilisation of operational relationships. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Operational relationships within the supply chain are maintained and improved through clear communications and options to improve supply chain processes.

    Recommendations are made and communicated to stakeholders regarding opportunities to develop operational relationships to benefit the supply chain. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Problems with supply chain relationships are identified and communicated according to organisational procedures.

    Supply chain processes are monitored to ensure operational relationships are suitable for maintaining the performance of the supply chain.

    The supplies flowing through the supply chain are identified in terms of their specifications and quality.

    Suitable sources of data are accessed in order to collate and prepare data for the analysis.

    The prepared data on the organisation's supply chain are analysed using agreed analysis methods and procedures.

    Key findings are clearly identified and results are provided according to agreed formats and schedules.

    Problems with the supply chain are clearly identified and communicated in accordance with organisational procedures.
