Learners accredited with this standard will be able to install a frameless shower door system after preparing for it. Learners will become acquainted with the various frameless shower door systems, their components and installation requirements.

    Confirm job/customer requirements for glazing of wood/steel.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Opening sizes are measured/re-measured on site to confirm measurements prior to starting work. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The importance of ensuring that surface for installation is correct is described in terms of whether installation is possible. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Customer requirements/preferences are confirmed prior to manufacturing the system. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Requirements and preferences include but are not limited to type of glass, design issues, specific installation arrangements.

    Windloading limitations are calculated as per the system to be installed.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The importance of communication between glazier and the glazing company is explained to ensure that the customer requirements are adhered to. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The type and thickness of glass is specified, depending on size and height of the frameless shower door system. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The product received from the glazing company is checked to ensure fitness for installation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Hardware is fitted and secured to glass before installation. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The system is packaged and transported as per procedure to ensure that there are no breakages and/or problems with the assembly.
