PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this unit standard is to enable learners to develop an understanding of slot machines and how they work. This knowledge would equip them to operate and supervise slot machines in a gaming environment.

On achievement of this unit standard the learner will understand and be able to:
  • Understand the operation of a slot machine.
  • Convey information to clients.
  • Operate a slot machine.

    The role of slot machines is explained as it pertains to enhancing overall revenue of a casino.

    Possible minor malfunctions that can arise are identified together with the way in which they may be rectified to ensure on-going operation.

    The procedures to be followed when a slot machine develops a major problem which prevents its further use are described to ensure that the problem is dealt with as speedily as possible.

    Tilt codes are accurately and correctly identified as these pertain to the operation of a slot machine.

    Machine manufacturers are accurately identified in order to refer any malfunctions to the appropriate manufacturer where appropriate. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Minor malfunctions arising are dealt with effectively and speedily to ensure continuous operation.
