PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for learners within the Safety in Society and Sovereignty of the State sub-fields who work in the bomb disposal environment and who are required to apply the remote operated vehicle in the execution of bomb disposal, arms cache lifting or demolitions.

A learner credited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Describe the functionality and components of the remote operated vehicle.
  • Conduct maintenance.
  • Identify possible hazards and operating limitations.
  • Deploy and recover operationally.
