PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended at individuals responsible for the maintainance of infrastructure of a conservation area. Individuals achieving competency against this standard will be able to maintain and repair a range of items associated with the operational infrastructure in a conservation area.

The learner will be able to:
  • Perform basic infrastructural maintenance.
  • Repair gas appliances and replace lights and fuses.
  • Repair leaks, blockages, inoperable plumbing equipment.
  • Erect wood or wood-substitute structures.
  • Conduct basic welding and brazing.
  • Maintain pumps, boreholes and static plants.
  • Assist in constructing ablution facilities in a conservation area.

    A listing is given of infrastructural problems to be corrected that require basic carpentry, building, painting, plumbing, welding, paving and barricading interventions. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The correct interventions for addressing the infrastructural problems identified is selected as to plan required maintenance activities. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The correct techniques, tools and equipment is used to perform infrastructure maintenance safely and according to organisational maintenance requirements.

  • Anyone assessing an individual against this unit standard must meet the assessor requirements of the relevant ETQA.
