    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The requirements pertaining to a safe, healthy work environment and the consequences of not adhering to the above are explained in terms of specified requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The importance of preparing for maintenance is explained in terms of achieving specified production requirements and up and down stream operational requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Hazards and associated risks pertaining to the maintenance to be performed are identified through specified risk assessment procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The actions to be taken should hazards and risks be encountered are explained in terms of specified requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Process equipment to be maintained is identified and their functions explained in terms of operational requirements.

    Personal protective and safety equipment is verified, examined and used in accordance with prescribed practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Tools and equipment are verified and examined in accordance with prescribed practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Workplace hazards and associated risks pertaining to the specific equipment to be maintained are identified and dealt with in accordance with recommendations set out in the applicable risk assessment.

    The process equipment to be maintained is examined and substandard conditions are dealt with in accordance with plant-specific practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Maintenance requirements are determined and recorded in accordance with plant maintenance practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    Security requirements pertaining to the maintenance process are met in accordance with operational requirements.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The availability of personal protective equipment, safety equipment and first aid kit is ensured in accordance with prescribed practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The availability of tools and equipment to be used is ensured in accordance with prescribed practices. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The availability of replacement components pertaining to process equipment to be maintained is ensured in accordance with operational requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Planning for maintenance is conducted in accordance with plant-specific requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The availability of auxiliary resources required for the maintenance to be performed is ensured in accordance with plant practices. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Auxiliary resources include:
  • Water hoses.
  • Compressed air.
  • Electricity.

  • ASSESSMENT CRITERION 6 
    The schedule of intended maintenance is communicated to up and downstream processes in accordance with plant practices.

    Equipment to be maintained is locked out in accordance with prescribed practices.

    Clearance documentation in respect of personnel required to perform the maintenance is prepared in accordance with prescribed practices.

    Occupational safety and health procedures towards self and others are maintained in accordance with specified requirements.
