PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The learner achieving this unit standard in combination with other content-related standards would be able to organise and administer a sport tournament. The learner will achieve this through selecting the appropriate activities to suit the needs and expectations of a specific community and stakeholders. Furthermore, the learner will be able to conduct an evaluation and present a comprehensive report after the tournament.

Competent learners will provide the environment for quality experiences to participants and thus strengthen the profession in general.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:
  • Identify the systems and processes required to organise a tournament according to an operational plan.
  • Organize a sport tournament.
  • Apply leading and guiding skills in the organising and administration of a sport tournament.
  • Co-ordinate the implementation of the activities programme during the tournament.
  • Monitor and evaluate the sport tournament.

    An operational plan to organize a sport tournament is implemented.

    A logistics plan is accessed and followed to ensure efficient and effective organization of the sport tournament according to operational requirements.

    Venues, facilities, equipment, safety and security, branding and kit, opening and closing ceremonies, accommodation, catering and transport.

    Daily briefings and evaluation meetings are arranged with the task teams and team managers of each sporting code.

    Daily event programmes are coordinated and results and information are fed into the Information Management System.

    A structured feed back system is utilised to ensure adherence to timetables and achieving of objectives.

    UNIT STANDARD NOTES 
    This Unit Standard enables natural progression after completion of the unit standard "Plan a sport tournament" and it is recommended that the latter is concluded prior to attempting "Organise and Administer a Sport Tournament". Value will furthermore be added to the teaching and learning process if these two standards are used to form a cohesive training intervention.
