PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The learner achieving this unit standard will be able to design a programme for a medium to large sized sports tournament and develop and implement the necessary operations within the community or federation. The learner will achieve this through choosing appropriate activities to suit the needs and expectations of a specific community or federation and stakeholders as dictated by the sporting codes.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner is able to:
  • Define management principles and processes applicable to the planning and organising of a sport tournament.
  • Conduct a needs analysis to stage a sport tournament.
  • Plan a framework for a sport tournament within a community.
  • Prepare a comprehensive operational plan and budget for the sport tournament.
