PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard deals with handover aspects of system installations. This unit standard is intended for installers, sales people, technicians and anyone who will be required to conduct customer liaison in respect of system installation. This unit standard assumes that learners have both product and feature knowledge in order to prepare for such a briefing.

Learners accredited with this unit standard will be able to:
  • Assess System Functionality.
  • Prepare and conduct a customer briefing. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
  • Communication skills at NQF Level 3.
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 3.
  • Computer skills at NQF Level 3.
  • One of the following unit standards or a unit standard in which knowledge of a specific installation is described:

    > ID 244332: Demonstrate an understanding of electric fencing, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244325: Demonstrate an understanding of electronic access control, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244322: Demonstrate an understanding of gate automation, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244316: Demonstrate an understanding of intruder alarm systems, NQF Level 4.
    > ID 244320: Demonstrate an understanding of CCTV, NQF Level 4.

    The installation configuration is assessed to determine whether it meets operational requirements.

    Reasons for checking that the installation complies with agreed specifications are explained with examples. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Agreed specifications may include but are not limited to quantities, equipment type.
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The reasons for and importance of the walk-through with the customer is explained in order to ensure service delivery. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Walk-through may include but is not limited to identifying and pointing out of equipment and location of equipment.
     

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 2 
    Prepare and conduct a customer briefing.

    Briefing may include but is not limited to a demonstration, written and oral briefing.

    Briefing methods may include but are not limited to presentations, user-guides, manuals and demonstrations.

    A briefing is formulated to convey installation knowledge to a customer. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The importance of preparing handover documentation is explained with examples. 
    ASSESSMENT CRITERION RANGE 
    Handover documentation may include but is not limited to contracts, invoices, operator manuals, configuration documentation, diagrams, maintenance agreements and plans.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
