PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for a person who wants to manufacture and repair complicated jewellery.

Learners credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Plan the manufacturing process of complicated jewellery.
  • Plan the repair process of complicated jewellery.
  • Prepare the components.
  • Assemble prepared components.
  • Execute the finish.

    The skills, knowledge and understanding demonstrated within this unit standard are essential for social and economic transformation and contribute to the upliftment and economic growth of the mining and minerals sector.

    This unit standard is intended to promote general skills, knowledge and understanding of manufacturing and repairing complicated jewellery in the beneficiation and minerals sector in order to ensure knowledgeable and informed workers. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are already competent in the following:
  • National Certificate in Jewellery Manufacture in a Production Environment or the equivalent thereof.
  • Analysing a design.
  • Knowledge of different repair methods.
  • Knowledge of different tools and equipment of jewellery manufacturing. 

  • UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Complicated Jewellery refers to the construction of components which would include more than four soldiered joints.
