PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be able to advise customers on the management of a skills development programmes and provide the necessary administration and logistical support.

The qualifying learner will be able to advise stakeholders on:
  • Management and logistical support of training initiatives.
  • Measures to manage and maintain learning records.
  • Techniques to involve learners in the management of learning.
  • Methods to contribute to the budgetary process.
  • Methodologies to evaluate the management of a training initiative.
  • Community issues that may impact on skills development projects within the public sector.

    LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    In order to access this unit standard the learner will need a Matric or equivalent certificate. The learner will need to demonstrate competence in Communication at NQF Level 4. 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The following statements provide a general guide to the scope and complexity of the competence expected of a learner:
  • The learner is required to demonstrate the competence described in this standard in the context of a training initiative.
  • The specific outcomes should be performed in line with an established method for managing a training intervention. At this level the learner should be able to describe one alternative method, to explain how his/her performance would differ if he/she used it and to justify his/her choice of method.
  • Skills development includes but is not limited to skills programmes, learnerships, internships, bursaries, apprenticeships.

    An understanding of the dynamics and structures prevalent in community structures is explained with examples.

    The various internal and external development projects within own public sector context are identified and explained in relation to skills development initiatives.

    Community structures are informed about the skills development projects being undertaken to address skills shortages and upliftment.

    The different types of agreements that relate to community development projects are explained and applied in relation to own skills development context. 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Accreditation for this Unit Standard shall be obtained from the relevant Education and Training Quality Assurance Body, through summative and formative assessment by a registered assessor.
  • Assessors must be registered as an Assessor with the relevant ETQA.
  • Moderators must be registered as assessors with the relevant ETQA, or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Agreement with the relevant ETQA.
  • Training providers must be accredited by the relevant ETQA.

    Moderation should include both internal and external moderation where applicable.
