PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD
This unit standard will enable learners to operate the radio transceiver in a military and law enforcement environment. The purpose of voice communication and undertaking of basic maintenance will enhance the learner's ability to operate the radio transceiver.

Accuracy and security is paramount in this environment, compared to other users of the radio transceiver. This unit standard will also enable learners to apply speech procedures to communicate over a radio transceiver in a military and law enforcement organisation.

Qualifying learners will be able to:
  • Describe the uses and types of radio transceivers.
  • Describe the technical data of the radio transceiver.
  • Demonstrate the use of the specific radio transceiver.
  • Handle and test the radio transceiver in use.
  • Explain the purpose of radio speech procedures.
  • Describe measures to ensure security when communicating over a radio transceiver.
  • Describe the measures to promote accuracy when communicating over a radio transceiver.
  • Describe the elements of a radio network.
  • Explain the procedures to establish communication over a radio network.

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
