PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD |
Learners who are assessed as competent against this unit standard will be able to use brick size and block size hollow units to build single leaf and cavity walls and prepare walls to receive concrete floors, roof slabs and further surface applications in accordance with the design and construction method specified in working drawings ensuring that National Building and Occupational Health and Safety regulations are adhered to.
This competence complements the other masonry competencies and contributes to the development of a professional community of Masonry practitioners, who are able to use Science and Technology responsibly and cost-effectively. It should result in improved quality and service delivery in Masonry. The contribution to The National Skills Development Strategy is the key developmental interface between learners and new competencies to be achieved. |
