PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is for a person who performs phasing and or synchronising on high voltage intergrated systems under instruction from a control centre. A person credited with this unit standard can safely operate electrical apparatus; stabilize transient conditions; service plant; monitor plant; maintain regulatory requirements. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
1. The person understands the impact his/her specific plant has on the energy conversion process.
2. The person understands the dangers of chemicals used in his/her direct working environment.
3. The person is able to listen, question, observe, describe accurately and align with the sender`s need.

6. The person knows the concept, terms and theory of the specified technical field covering maths, Engineering science, electrical trade theory and power plant theory.
