PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is an elective standard towards the qualification National Certificate in Retail/Wholesale processes at NQF 2. It gives access to the specialised "Furniture and Appliance" sub-sector whilst aligning practice to world-class standards. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
This learning should be demonstrated across a wide range of sector variables including:

  • Type of delivery mode

  • Safety and housekeeping activities including switching off electrical appliances at close of day, wiring electrical appliances and monitoring electrical wiring and plugs, polishing and dusting stocks, cleaning upholstery, washing appliances, securing portable items, repairing damaged items.
  • Techniques for assembling furniture and appliance displays including displaying whites separately, displaying television and sound separately, connecting appliances for "live" displays, displaying prices and seasonal lines in prominent areas, creating "room" and "household" settings, colour co-ordinating.

    Identify and solve problems when checking stock availability and loading stock onto trucks so that loaded stock corresponds with delivery documentation and furniture/appliances are loaded onto trucks for easy access and removal at each delivery point. 

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO ORGANISING 
    Organise oneself and ones activities when assembling furniture/appliance displays so that care is taken to co-ordinate colours and conduct checks on all wiring for "live" displays ensuring customer and store safety is maintained.

    Collect, organise, analyse and evaluate products and services FAB sheets so that informed advice is gived to customers and product end-users are adequately demonstrated. 

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO COMMUNICATING 
    Communicate effectively when assisting customers to complete credit application forms so that all relevant details are completed by customers in accordance with company requirements. 

    UNIT STANDARD CCFO SCIENCE 
    Use science and technology effectively when receiving, recording and securing cash transactions at points of sale so that cash amounts are accurately recorded and other forms of payment are scrutinisd to confirm validity.
