PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The skills, values and knowledge reflected in this unit standard are required by people in the field of autotronics.

The learning outcomes of this unit standard also contribute to the exit level outcomes required for the autotronics NQF2 level qualification.

Qualifying learners are able to remove and fit mechanical and electrical automobile components from/to an automobile safely, in accordance with procedures and without damage to the automobile.

This unit standard has been designed as part of a progression.

The credits allocated to this unit standard assume that a learner has already learnt to:
  • Maintain a safe and productive work area
  • Select, use and care for engineering hand tools

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 1 
    Identify mechanical/electrical components to be removed or fitted 
    OUTCOME RANGE 
    Components include starter motors, alternators, wiper motors, radiator fan, interior fan, ignition coil, pump/solenoid, central locking, fuel pump (inline, inertia), speakers, all light assemblies, air compressor and electric windows.
