PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is useful to people who are required to identify and describe basic health and health related needs within the community, thereby assisting the community in improving their quality of life.

People credited with this unit standard are able to:
  • Explain health promotion.
  • Describe the health status of the community.
  • Draft a community action plan.
