UNIT STANDARD RANGE |
The context of this unit standard covers: Alopecia areata (round bald patches), cicatrical (scarring alopecia), damaged cuticle, fragilitas crinium (split ends), male pattern baldness, monilethrix (beaded hair shaft), pityriases capitis (dandruff), psoriasis, sebaceous cyst, seborrhea (greasy scalp), trichorrexis nodosa (swelling and breaking of shaft), folliculitis (yellow pustules with hair in centre), impetigo (pustules and scabs), pediculosis capitis (head lice), tinea capitis (ringworm), warts, dermatitis, hypertrichosis.
In the context of hairdressing, "disorders" of the hair and scalp means any abnormal condition that may still be treated by the hairdresser. In the context of hairdressing, "diseases" of the hair and scalp means any abnormal condition, i.e. contagious, infected, swollen, that may NOT be treated by the hairdresser, but must be referred to a medical practitioner. |
