PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for people responsible for managing staff that handles and controls cash. Persons credited with this unit standard are responsible for the final in-store cash verifications, cash reconciliation and cash control. These persons are also responsible for the achievement of business output.

They will be able to manage cash handling practices policies and procedures implemented by others. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
It is assumed that the learner has completed the following areas of learning before attempting this unit standard: Grade 12 or equivalent and has achieved competence against the following Wholesale and Retail unit standards:
  • Process Payments.
  • Balance Point Of Sale.
  • Administer and control organisation's deposits and floats.
  • Record Transactions.

    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
    Programmes leading to the award of credits from this unit standard will be accredited by the Wholesale and Retail SETA in its ETQA role. Anyone assessing a learner against this unit standard must be registered as an assessor with the Wholesale and Retail SETA ETQA.

    Moderation:

    Internal Moderations will be performed by the Accredited Providers whilst the specific ETQA will perform external moderations of assessments across the Accredited Providers according to the moderation guidelines in the relevant qualification and the agreed ETQA procedures.
