This unit standard has replaced 7576, which was "Demonstrate the ability to use a database for business purposes", Level 3, 5 Credits.
Supplementary Information: Definitions: Assessor Notes: a. Learners are required to plan, produce, use and evaluate a database to provide a solution to a given problem. The problem may be either part of the learner`s employment tasks (in the case of workplace assessment) or be a set exercise. b. The simple user document must be provided to the candidate being assessed, with a clear description of both the desirable outcomes sought and the constraints to be met by the solution. It contains detailed specifications against which the success or otherwise of the database can be evaluated. For the purpose of this unit standard the simple user document can be either created as part of the candidates employment (in the case of workplace assessment) or in response to a set task. c. The supplied brief must incorporate requirements to ensure that all assessment criteria are met. d. GUI functions like printing, using a pointing device and using the HELP facility are covered in a generic unit standard (ID 117902) and should be assessed as part of the mentioned standard. e.
