PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This Unit Standard is for all persons working in the FOREX section of a Financial Services Institution.

Persons credited with this Unit Standard will be able to:
  • Establish the nature of the customer's needs
  • Link the customer's needs to the appropriate foreign exchange product/s
  • Provide the relevant foreign exchange product/s. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners accessing this Unit Standard will be competent in Communication at NQF Level 3 

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    Travelers' cheques, foreign notes, credit cards, drafts, tele-transmissions related to retail products, clean bills of exchange

    The customer's nationality and residential status are verified according to Reserve Bank requirements.

    The customer's relationship with the institution is established in accordance with the institution's policy.

    The reasons for the customer's request are ascertained in compliance with Reserve Bank requirements. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The specific transactions required to execute the customer's request are identified in the manner required by the institution.

    Link the customer's needs to the appropriate product/s.

    The customer's requirements are matched with a range of appropriate foreign exchange products in line with the institution's policy.

    The customer's concerns are addressed politely and to the customer's satisfaction.

    The terms and conditions governing FOREX are explained in terms that the customer should understand.

    Including, but not limited to interest and exchange rates, commission, Reserve Bank rulings and regulations.

    The customer's choice is reviewed and linked with the expressed need in the manner required by the institution.

    Provide the relevant foreign exchange product/s.

    The required documentation handling procedure is completed according to the institution's policy

    Revenues and commission are recovered, if necessary, according to stipulated procedures. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The customer contact is recorded according to the institution's policy. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    Confirmation of the rates and the customer's agreement to the rates is obtained in line with the institution's procedures

    The documentation is forwarded to the relevant department as per stipulated procedure.

  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA
