This Unit Standard is for learners working in a foreign exchange environment.

Successful learners are able to:
  • Identify, analyse and apply appropriate foreign exchange technical trading tactics and techniques
  • Identify, analyse and apply candlestick charting
  • Identify, analyse and apply appropriate charts and chart patterns

    Identify, analyse and apply appropriate foreign exchange technical trading tactics and techniques.

    Technical analysis includes identifying and analysing the various charting techniques such as charts, chart patterns, indicators, trends and oscillators

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The various types of Indicators used by technical analysts are identified and analysed according to the currencies being traded 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The various types of charts used by technical analysts are identified and analysed according to the currencies and their time frames being traded 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The various types of chart patterns used by technical analysts are identified and analysed according to the currencies and their time frames being traded 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    The various technical indicators are assessed, analysed and presented in chart format using a computer and various software charting packages 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 5 
    The alternative approaches and information required in technical analysis are described, analysed and applied according to the various currencies and the time frames in which they are traded

    Price forecasting strategies and trading tactics are identified and tracked via suitable trading platforms and according to the types of currencies being traded

    Terms and conditions of trades are captured correctly as per system specific requirements

    Changes in market trends are predicted, analysed and traded using various charting patterns which include charts, chart patterns, indicators, trends and oscillators.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    The attributes of the body of a candle used in candlestick charting are analysed according to the charting system 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    The various types of candles used to depict a candlestick chart are identified, analysed and understood in order to analyse the trends and market movements of currency being traded 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Groups of different candle types are identified, analysed and understood in order to analyse the trends and market movements of a currency being traded 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Identify, analyse and apply appropriate charts and chart patterns.

    Buying and selling opportunities are identified, analysed, planned and executed using chart patterns

    Changes in market trends are predicted, analysed and tracked using chart pattern techniques

    Market trends from various chart types are identified and analysed according to the types of currencies being traded

    Trades are monitored utilising various price forecasting indicators and trading tactics such as identifying and analysing chart patterns in conjunction with trends, technical indicators and oscillators simultaneously in order to more accurately identify market entry and exit points 


    UNIT STANDARD ACCREDITATION AND MODERATION OPTIONS 
  • An individual wishing to be assessed (including through RPL) against this Unit Standard may apply to an assessment agency, assessor or provider institution accredited by the relevant ETQA, or an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA.
  • Anyone assessing a learner against this Unit Standard must be registered as an assessor with the relevant ETQA or with an ETQA that has a Memorandum of Understanding with the relevant ETQA
