PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to select and prepare tools for the finishing/completing of prepared frames and carry out covering operations, in a safe and productive manner.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Selecting tools and components for covering.
  • Preparing tools and components for covering.
  • Performing and completing covering operations. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy equivalent to NQF level 2. They will also have achieved, or be able to demonstrate equivalent competence to, the National Certificate in Furniture Upholstery (Wood), NQF level 2.

    Components selected are checked with specification and are correct and free of faults

    Any equipment, tools or components not to specification are rectified, replaced or reported to the relevant person
