PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is also able to demonstrate, determine and describe the product and/or service specifications, features, benefits, advantages, uses and information. This unit standard aims to demonstrate an understanding of product and /or service details and information in order to provide the customer with information to ensure that they can use the hired out equipment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Preparing equipment for customer use.
  • Determining product / service details and information.
  • Describing the product / service details and specifications.
  • Demonstrating product / service features, benefits, advantages, uses and safety.
  • Recording and reporting product and equipment failures. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard will have demonstrated competence in computer literacy, numeracy and language and communications at NQF level 2 or equivalent.

    Equipment parts and consumables are checked for demonstration readiness against requirements to ensure they are in correct working order.

    Equipment is cleaned using required materials and machinery in preparation for presentation to customers within the required timeframe.

    Damages or problems are identified, recorded and reported before demonstration begins in the required format.

    Protective equipment is identified and applied before the demonstration of equipment begins in accordance with safety standards.

    Applicable product / service features, benefits, advantages and uses are demonstrated in a practical understandable language to the client.

    Operating instructions are explained and demonstrated practically to the client in line with manufacturers specifications.

    Clients understanding of the application and uses of the equipment is assessed practically and verbally and confirmed according to manufacturers guidelines.
