The person credited with this Unit Standard is able to evaluate current policies against international and local best practices and identify discrepancies and areas of improvement

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Analysing local and international stock and logistic policy trends.
  • Auditing stock holding/movement procedures.
  • Evaluating logistical services. 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    It is assumed that learners are competent in:
  • Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3
  • Mathematical Literacy at NQF Level 4
  • Accountancy and Communications at NQF level 4 or its equivalent

    Analyse local and international stock and logistic policy trends. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
     

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A range of local and international procedures, practices and strategies for short-term and long term stock holding strategies are analysed and their main features, advantages and disadvantages listed in tabular form. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    A range of local and international procedures, practices and strategies for planning and implementing logistics in a small business are analysed and their main features, advantages and disadvantages listed in tabular form. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    The current policies and strategies relating to stock-holding and logistic services of the business are evaluated against evidence found and a report written on how both aspects can be improved.

    Audit stock holding procedures.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    A Stock taking is done using the current stock holding procedures of the business and stock discrepancies identified and analysed using standard analytical skills and techniques. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Revised stock holding procedures are recommended to eliminate discrepancies. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    Stock movement tracking procedures are audited and evaluated for accuracy using company policy and procedures as guidelines. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Stock security procedures are audited and evaluated, discrepancies identified and evaluated and reported on in required format. 

    SPECIFIC OUTCOME 3 
    Evaluate logistic services.

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 1 
    Logistic planning and logging procedures are evaluated for effectiveness in terms of meeting internal and external client expectations. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 2 
    Logistics operations are examined and compared with laid down company procedures and policies to determine identify where they are not being fully implemented. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 3 
    A report is written indicating where logistic service practice differs from policy and recommendations made as to how the discrepancies can be eliminated.
