PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The person credited with this unit standard is able to receive and check new plant and equipment into fleet for accuracy and completeness. Learners are also able to read and interpret the instructions for new operators as well as the maintenance requirements for new plant and equipment to ensure effective, correct use of the new products. They will be in a position to monitor and control the maintenance and servicing of the new plant and equipment to meet manufacturers and supplier specifications and ensure cost effectiveness of the products

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Receiving and checking new plant and equipment onto fleet
  • Interpreting operator and maintenance instructions for new plant and equipment
  • Developing and implementing a maintenance and service schedule
  • Monitoring maintenance and service schedules 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this qualification will have demonstrated competence in numeracy and literacy at NQF level 4 or equivalent.
