PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
A learner who has achieved this unit standard will be competent in:
Applying additives to threshed tobacco according to prescribed specification requirements to ensure correct quality and a constant supply to the cutting process.

To enter a learning programme for this unit standard or to be assessed against this unit standard, the learner is assumed to have:
  • Literacy and numeracy at NQF level 2.
  • Knowledge of the application of quality control during tobacco processing.
  • Introduction to the Tobacco Processing Industry.

    UNIT STANDARD RANGE 
    The learner is expected to perform the specific outcomes as reflected in this unit standard with minimal supervision, but with access to work site procedures and operating instructions.

    The scope of this unit standard deals with the application of additives to threshed tobacco before the cutting process.

    Additive line machines include but are not limited to: additive cylinders and screw conditioners.
