PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within a transport management environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learner`s job, or chances of finding employment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:
  • Designing the standard operating procedures of routing and scheduling
  • Managing the routing and scheduling function in a road transport (primary or secondary company function) activity
  • Evaluating route related information received and taking appropriate proactive strategic managerial actions 

  • LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
    Learners accessing this unit standard / qualification will have demonstrated competence against numeracy, literacy, communication and management skills at NQF Level 4 or the basic transport operations and planning skills, within the parameters of applicable prescriptive legislation or the strategic managerial knowledge of implications derived from contract / tender / permission terms and conditions.
