PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD

Learners acquiring this standard will be learning towards obtaining a national qualification or are working within a transport management environment, where acquisition of competence against this standard will add value to learner`s job, or chances of finding employment.

The qualifying learner is capable of:

Applying the standard operating procedures of routing and scheduling

Designing and managing the routing and scheduling function in a transport activity (primary or secondary company function)

Conducting routing and scheduling

Evaluating route related information received and taking appropriate proactive action

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Learners accessing this unit standard / qualification will have demonstrated competence against numeracy, literacy and communication at NQF Level 3 or the basic transport operations and management skills, within the parameters of applicable prescriptive legislation or the operational knowledge from contract / tender / permission terms and conditions.
