PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
The purpose of this Unit Standard is to enable learners to calculate quantities for the purpose of computing quantities of materials required to complete a job cost-effectively, and at the desired standard, and to use these calculations to develop a work plan. 

LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE AND RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING 
FETC NQF Level 2 literacy and numeracy competencies.
