PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard will enable learners to demonstrate an understanding of retail products and services in the salon environment and to provide clients with the service required.

A person credited with this unit standard is able to:
  • Describe the purposes and methods of retailing in the salon environment.
  • Identify sales opportunities.
  • Present and demonstrate products and services to prospective customers.
  • Create a product display.

    A display is planned to optimise the effect of colour, light, accessibility and product size.

    The principles of display are explained in terms of their suitability for hair or skin or nail care products.

    A display is set up in accordance with a given display plan. 

    ASSESSMENT CRITERION 4 
    Product selling price is displayed as per organisational instructions.

    Manufacturers' promotional boards and flyers are presented or distributed in a manner that provides maximum benefit to both parties.
