PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is aimed at enabling learners to analyse their own strengths and weaknesses, set objectives for self-development and implement a development plan in order to achieve these objectives. It will also enable learners to monitor own activities and approach colleagues and management for feedback.

In particular, on completion of this unit standard, the learner will able to:
  • Compare own strengths and weaknesses in current job role to job role requirements.
  • Identify objectives for self development related to career aspirations and design a personal development plan.
  • Make preparation for and implement a personal development plan in a workplace.
  • Monitor own development against plan and objectives, and adjust as needed.
  • Analyse and apply feedback on own development to objectives and plan.

    Priorities, deliverables and time frames are identified for the completion of an activity/programme.

    Selected activities/programmes toward self development are accessed and embarked upon.

    Reasons for regularly monitoring own progress against a self-development plan and objectives are outlined focusing on effective time and resource utilisation.

    Feedback is requested from management as to the effectiveness of the development programme.
