PURPOSE OF THE UNIT STANDARD 
This unit standard is intended for people who want to access housing finance. Anyone who completes this unit standard will be able to make an informed choice regarding his/her most appropriate finance option in relation to budget.

In order to apply this unit standard, it is assumed that learners are able to read and write to a level appropriate for NQF Level 1.

    UNIT STANDARD ASSESSOR CRITERIA 
  • Given that this standard is at NQF Level 1 and could from part of a learner`s General Education and Training Certificate, some of the assessment evidence must be in a form related to competence in reading and writing at this level.
  • Assessment evidence should be gathered in the real-life application of the outcomes in the housing process where possible (e.g. completed loan documentation). If this is not feasible in terms of the learner`s own involvement, or his/her availability to the assessor over time, simulations, role plays, interviews, portfolios and tests can be used.
  • Translation and interpreting services should be used if these are needed.
